Halle Hazzard is a former professional track and field athlete turned writer and filmmaker. She holds a B.A. in English and Politics from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Journalism and Documentary Filmmaking from the University of Southern California. Her sports documentary Finding Balance aired on Spectrum News 1, reaching over 6 million households across Southern California. She also served as co-editor of the Los Angeles Times' immersive VR project Echoes of the L.A. Uprising. Her original short story Home, along with two poems, appears in the 45th issue of African Voices Magazine. She was also named a semi-finalist and partial fellowship recipient for the Brooklyn Poets Fellowship.
In addition to her creative work, Halle competed in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, representing the island nation of Grenada. She continues to merge storytelling with lived experience, using poetry and film to explore culture, identity, and legacy.
